The Center for Cybersecurity Belgium

The Centre for Cybersecurity Belgium (CCB) is responsible for cybersecurity in Belgium. It has drawn up a national cybersecurity policy and encourages all sectors to take actions in line with the policy.

The CCB has taken over the management of the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT). This team is responsible for the detection, observation and analysis of online security problems, and informing internet users about security.

The CCB, created in 2014, is under the authority of the Prime Minister. The Chancellery provides the centre with the administrative and logistic support it needs to carry out its tasks.

The tasks and activities of the Centre for Cybersecurity are:

• implementing the Belgian strategy
• coordinating projects for the various sectors (individuals, public sector, universities/researchers, etc.)
• proposing changes in legislation
• implementing crisis management during cyber incidents, in conjunction with the government's Coordination and Crisis Centre
• drawing up standards, guidelines and security norms for the public sector's information systems
• coordinating Belgium's presence at international events
• coordinating the evaluation and certification of security of information and communication systems
• informing and raising awareness among users about information and communication systems
