The Chancellery helps European citizens to find their way through the Belgian administrative maze
Are you moving to another European country, and do you have questions about the practical formalities you need to complete related to your family, your job, your car or your health insurance?
The European portal Your Europe groups reliable information from all Member States, and in the future (from the end of 2023), it will also give you the opportunity to complete the main administrative procedures online. Citizens who run into administrative hurdles when moving to another EU member state can also go there for support.
The European Commission is responsible designing and managing the portal, but it is up to the Member States to deliver the information to the Commission in a clear and user-friendly way. For Belgium, the Chancellery of the Prime Minister is responsible for coordinating the informative part of the site.
Answers to questions about administrative rules are provided by different federal public services, regions or communities, depending on the topic. The information on the websites of the competent authorities is translated into English and receives the official 'Your Europe' label. This way, citizens are able to see at a glance that the information is reliable and up to date. All links to pages displaying this logo will be collected on youreurope.eu.
The Chancellery must also ensure that Belgians planning to relocate inside of Europe are aware of the existence of Your Europe. This way, they will no longer be required to sift through dozens of websites to find all of the pieces of the administrative puzzle. The European portal will be promoted in collaboration with the various authorities and stakeholders such as business federations and embassies.
